First impressions of Los Angeles

This is now my third day in Los Angeles. I arrived on Friday around 10 p.m. completely exhausted. I wasn't really able to sleep on the plane or during the 5 hours wait at the airport in Detroit. I just napped away and woke up again. On both airplanes we had little monitors built into our seats. Luckily for me, the one in the first plane didn't really work and only showed the informational videos and the one in the second plane didn't accept my credit card, so I couldn't watch any movie and also none of the satellite TV stations worked. At least the planes themselves worked and the flights were other than the technical difficulties very enjoyable. The food was ok and the view outside amazing.

My hotel room is very comfortable for the price. I have a huge bed, a bath tub, a flat screen TV and free Wi-Fi. It was my first good sleep for several days.
The second day here was wonderful. The weather around my hotel area was pretty bad and chilly in the morning and the air smelled a little bit (through pollution or the ocean I don't know). I went shopping early buying me something to drink and some bananas and peanuts. Then I went to the bus station in direction to Hollywood where there was the social gathering for the Zeitgeist Day. The weather in Hollywood was beautiful. The sun was shining and it was summerly warm. I first got a cup of tea at a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, then went through a farmer's market until I met with the people from the Zeitgeist Movement.
First we did a little march through the streets holding up banners and giving out flyers. It was amazing: People honked their car horns at us and waved from their cars, others applauded us and one woman from the afore-mentioned farmer's market came to us and told us how much she loved the Movement.

After the march - which gave me a slight sunburn - we gathered at the Federal Bar and ate, drank, socialized. Lots of very lovely people. Some - including me of course - from all over the world.

In the evening, some of us then drove to the Griffith Observatory until it closed at 10 p.m. I certainly will go there again during my stay here as it is an amazing place with also a great view over L.A. A little sight-seeing tour on my way home from my driver concluded a fantastic day.
